About
About Userport
Userport (userport.io) is customer support and outbound messaging software for founders of SaaS and subscription products. It puts a chat widget, an inbox for chat and email, a help center, and onboarding and re-engagement messages on one record of each customer, so a question in the chat and a reply to your trial email land in the same place.
It is made by a small team in Cyprus that runs more than a dozen web and iOS products of its own, and their support and lifecycle email go through Userport. Until September 2026 it was called HelpMate and lived at helpmate.so.
What Userport does
Chat widget for your site and app
One script tag adds a chat widget to a website or web app. Visitors search your help articles from it or start a conversation, and signed-in users are recognised across devices, so a conversation started on a laptop carries on from a phone. It works in plain HTML pages and in React and Next.js apps.
One inbox for chat and email
Chat conversations and email arrive in the same inbox. Forward your support address from Gmail, Google Workspace or Outlook and every email becomes a conversation, with your replies threaded back to the customer. Beside each thread you see who the person is, what your app knows about them and their other conversations.
Help center
A knowledge base on a subdomain of userport.io or on your own domain with SSL, with articles in collections, full-text search, a contact form and a public changelog. The same articles are searchable from the chat widget, so customers can find an answer before they write in.
Outbound messages
Proactive chat messages and emails for everyone who matches an audience: properties your app sends, pages they visited, dates such as signup or trial end. A chat message opens its own conversation in the widget, and when the person is not on the site it can follow them by email. Replies to either come back to the inbox.
Sequences
Multi-step journeys for onboarding, trial conversion and re-engagement. Each step waits a set time or until a date on the contact, then sends a chat message or an email; exit rules take people out once they no longer need it, and a goal measures how many got there and how fast. Every mailing topic has its own unsubscribe, so leaving one does not mean leaving all of them.
People and companies
Every visitor, user and company in one directory, with the properties your app sends, their web sessions and the pages they visited, their conversations and the sequences they are in. Outbound audiences are built from the same properties.
Answers in Claude, Claude Code and Cursor
An MCP server lets AI assistants read your conversations, reply when you grant write access, close or snooze threads, and read, write and launch outbound messages and sequences, with results by date range. It runs the same checks as the dashboard, so a message drafted in Claude is validated exactly like one built in the editor.
More on each part: the widget, the inbox and the help center.
What makes Userport different
Support and outbound share one inbox
Intercom sells outbound as an add-on: Proactive Support Plus costs $99 a month and includes 500 messages. Customer.io and Loops send lifecycle email but have no inbox, so replies land in whichever mailbox you point them at. In Userport, every outbound chat or email is a conversation, and a reply to it arrives in the inbox on the same person, next to their support history.
Priced per workspace, with outbound included
Userport has a free plan, and paid plans are $12, $49 and $69 a month for the workspace, with outbound messages and sequences included. Intercom charges $29 to $132 per seat a month on yearly billing, and Help Scout $25 to $75 per user a month. For a founder who answers support alone, Userport's cheapest paid plan costs less than one Intercom seat.
Guardrails on every email it sends
By default, every outbound email passes the same checks before it leaves: no more than three outbound emails to one person in 24 hours, 500 per workspace an hour, a slower ramp on a new sequence's first day, and an automatic pause when hard bounces pass 5% or complaints pass 0.1% of the last 500 sends. Those are the thresholds mailbox providers act on, so a bad list pauses a sequence before it damages your sending reputation.
Installed by your coding agent
The install guide is published as plain text for AI coding agents, and the Installation screen gives you a prompt to paste into Claude Code or Cursor. Both are generated from the same SDK reference as the human docs, so an agent installs the same loader, identify call and properties a person would.
Run on its makers' own products
The team behind Userport runs support, onboarding and lifecycle email for its own products on it, so a send that goes wrong goes wrong for the team first. Several of its rules, such as waiting before an unanswered chat message is emailed, came from sending to the team's own customers.
Competitor prices as published on their pricing pages in September 2026. The agent-readable install guide is at /llms.txt.
Who uses Userport
- Founders of SaaS and subscription web apps who answer support themselves, from the first customers to tens of thousands of contacts
- Small teams running several products, each with its own help center and widget
- Product teams who want onboarding, trial and re-engagement messages without running Customer.io or Loops next to their help desk
- Teams leaving Intercom over per-seat pricing and the outbound add-on
- Developers who install with Claude Code or Cursor and want to handle support from Claude
It is not built for phone or SMS support, native mobile apps, or support teams that need conversations assigned between agents, SAML single sign-on or SOC 2.
The team behind Userport
Userport is made by a small product team based in Cyprus. The same people build and run more than a dozen web and iOS products of their own, and the support conversations, onboarding emails and lifecycle messages for those products go through Userport.
It started in September 2023 as HelpMate, a help center and chat widget. It grew an inbox for chat and email, and in 2026 outbound messages and multi-step sequences. In September 2026 the product was renamed Userport and moved to userport.io. The new logo, two doors swung open, describes what it had become: support comes in through the same door that onboarding and lifecycle messages go out of.
The team is engineers and marketing, with no sales staff, so questions to [email protected] are answered by the people who write the code.
How Userport works
Setup
Sign up with email or Google, paste one script tag into your site, and forward your support address to the one Userport gives your workspace. The Installation screen walks through identifying signed-in users and sending the properties you want to target messages on, or hands the whole job to a coding agent.
No calls, no contracts
Signup is self-serve: no sales call, no onboarding session, and no credit card for the free plan. Paid plans are billed monthly or yearly through Paddle, and you can cancel any time.
Support
Email [email protected] or open the chat on this page. Both reach the people who build Userport rather than a ticket desk.
Where your data lives
Userport runs on servers in the EU. Email is sent through Amazon SES, from a subdomain of userport.io set up for each workspace.
Step-by-step guides are in the help center, and plans are on pricing.

Frequently asked questions
What is Userport?
Userport (userport.io) is customer support and outbound messaging software for founders of SaaS and subscription products. It combines a chat widget, an inbox for chat and email, a help center, and onboarding and lifecycle messages sent by chat or email, all on one record of each customer.
Is Userport the same product as HelpMate?
Yes. Userport is the new name of HelpMate, which started in 2023 at helpmate.so. The product, the accounts and the team are the same; the name, the logo and the domain changed in September 2026.
Is Userport related to userport.ai?
No. userport.ai is a separate company that makes AI software for sales teams. Userport is customer support and messaging software at userport.io, with no connection to it.
How much does Userport cost?
There is a free plan with 100 contacts. Paid plans are $12, $49 and $69 a month, or $10, $39 and $55 a month billed yearly, and every plan includes outbound messages and sequences.
How is Userport different from Intercom?
Both combine chat, an inbox, a help center and outbound messages. Intercom charges $29 to $132 per seat a month on yearly billing and sells proactive messages as a $99 a month add-on; Userport is priced per workspace from $12 a month, with outbound included. Intercom goes much further for large support teams, with assignment, workflows and an AI agent.
Does Userport answer customers with AI?
No. Conversations are answered by your team, from the dashboard or from Claude through the MCP server, and the help center handles the questions customers can answer themselves.
What does Userport not do?
It has no phone, SMS, WhatsApp or social media channels, no native iOS or Android SDK, no AI agent, and no conversation assignment across a support team yet. It does not offer SAML single sign-on or SOC 2 reports.
How do I contact Userport?
Email [email protected], or open the chat on userport.io. Both reach the team that builds the product.
